El pasado día 17 de noviembre asistí a las I Jornadas Regionales sobre Atención al Alumnado Inmigrante: Plurilingüismo e Interculturalidad. Fue una experiencia muy interesante, por oír a los otros ponentes pero sobre todo por el contacto con los compañeros y las compañeras de las ATAL y, sorpresa muy agradable, con los responsables de la administración. Todo esto lo relato en De estranjis con más detalle.¿Cuál es el motivo de mi referencia aquí a esas Jornadas? El hecho de que a ellas asistieran, fundamentalmente, la gente de las ATAL, las Aulas Temporales de Adaptación Lingüística, que tiene encomendada la atención educativa inicial a aquellos estudiantes de origen extranjero que llegan sin una competencia suficiente en la lengua de la escuela - aunque sí con mucha competencia en "otras lenguas". Aunque la convocatoria estaba abierta a los centros bilingües, es decir, al profesorado de castellano, inglés, francés y alemán implicado en el movimiento del "currículum integrado", éstos no sintieron que unas jornadas sobre "atención al alumnado inmigrante" fuera con ellos y con la renovación de los centros bilingües. Por otro lado, en el reciente encuentro en Sevilla sobre Plurilingüismo, al cual también tuve el placer de asistir, allí no se habló de migraciones ni lo que éstas aportan al plurilingüismo o lo que se pueden beneficiar de éste.
¿Hasta qué punto contribuimos a esa distinción los que hacemos didáctica de la lengua desde nuestros cotos, nuestros comparti-(departa-)-mentos estanco? No lo sé, pero me asusta pensar que he caído en la esquizofrenia de que sea un "yo" quien habla de español como segunda lengua y otro "yo" quien habla de lenguas extranjeras. No es así, nunca ha sido así. No puede ser así.
Este blog, que comenzó como una herramienta para comunicar qué ocurría en un curso de verano, se mantuvo pensando que sería un espacio para la reflexión sobre la didáctica de lenguas, todas. Sin embargo, la distinción entre Otras Lenguas y De estranjis, mis dos blogs (el segundo compartido con Diego Ojeda), no se puede mantener teóricamente, ideológicamente, éticamente.
Por esta razón, cierro el blog. Me vuelvo a De estranjis y allí hablaré de enseñanza de lenguas, siempre con una mirada especial a la incorporación del alumnado de origen extranjero a las aulas. Este es el reto del siglo XXI: construir sociedad desde la diversidad, y yo quiero participar en él.

Los buenos blogs y rincones sobre idiomas escasean y más blogs siempre te darán más oportunidades de acercarte a la gente.
Yo personalmente pretendo acercarme a personas de mi edad, las cuales dan poca importancia a la convergencia de culturas y, según mi punto de vista,no valoran lo suficiente a políglotas, intérpretes, traductores e hiperpolíglotas. Por ello te pediría que no lo cerrases, pues todos, directa o indirectamente, contribuímos a dicha convergencia.
